Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, creative, and eager to learn. They enjoy engaging in hands-on learning and love to participate in lessons. We are in an urban setting in the state of Connecticut. I have students in my class from many diverse backgrounds. We celebrate these differences every day.

All of my students are capable of succeeding.

I have students that learn at many levels in my classroom. They just need the resources to be able to meet their full potential.

My Project

My students love to read. We go to the school library once a week and they enjoy picking out new and exciting titles. Adding more books to my classroom library will give them even more reading choices. A print-rich classroom helps to build the love of reading in students. Having a variety of titles and genres will allow my students to explore through reading.

Offering a variety of texts to choose from, empowers students to make wise reading choices.

In my class, I offer students choice of their book club book. Having a class library that is full of interesting, engaging books will ignite my students' reading.

Book clubs:

-Foster interaction and discussion

-Provide choice and encourage responsibility

-Support a student centered way of learning

-Promote a love of reading

Book conversations help students to analyze their reading. My students genuinely enjoy reading and discussing texts of their choosing. Help me offer a variety of texts to my students. These books will last for years to come and help to improve the reading skills of my future fourth-grade students.
