My Students
I am a fourth year teacher catering to our wonderful first grade students at our elementary school in the beautiful community of Inspirada. It is my absolute pleasure to serve this community as it is filled with amazing families who strive to give their children the absolute best.
My first grade classroom serves typically 24 students at a time who are learning everything from early phonics to how and why the wind blows.
While teaching such a wide range of topics it is vital to keep their attention throughout the day. One way I can ensure that I lead an engaging classroom is by offering fun ways to display their work, clearly displaying new materials and having them within arms reach of my little ones, and implementing games to further reinforce the lessons taught.
Our motto at our school is "excellence is the norm", and this standard rings true for all of our students and teachers. We strive to be excellent in every aspect of our school culture, of course in the classroom but also in the hallways, at recess and when we are interacting with our community.
My Project
These resources will help me provide on level texts to students in need to meet a plethora of NVACS in reading literature and informational texts. The goal with these materials is to put on level books in my students hands in a safe way so they can always have a "just right" text within reach. The display bookshelf will make it easy for students to use their eyes first to select a title without spreading germs to multiple books at a time. The clear tubs will help me organize titles based on their book level so I can give students a rotating selection of books, further reducing the spread of germs. This will allow me to have books in a constant rotation so my books can have quarantine time away from students hands.
Students are returning from a year of distance education with some major setbacks in reading fluency.
I'd like to make my time with them as effective as possible by providing excellent, engaging books that they can read by themselves during their center time. This will help reinforce content being taught in their whole group lessons!
