My Students

Here is a little bit about my students. I taught Pre-K during the 2017-2018 school year. My students are such a loveable bunch. Their desire and eagerness to learn made my job much easier. One of their favorite activities was storytime. We did picture walks. We used music during storytime and many of the students reenacted the events from the story and began to develop their love for literacy.

Being from a low income community in New York, many of my students don't have access to rich and stimulating literature, specifically at an early age.

My goal is to bring this literature to them so I may give them a strong literacy foundation that will continue to develop as they move on to the upper grades and beyond.

My Project

My first project focused on building a classroom library with books that would promote a strong foundation in early literacy. I'm grateful to have succeeded, so I thought I'd further enhance our classroom by making the space inviting for my students with flexible seating.

My main focus is the promotion of literacy skills, with these seats, students have a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a good read.

Being from a low-income community, many of my students are lacking in materials to promote literacy skills and this would help a great deal! Studies have shown the benefits of flexible seating!
