This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having a kitchen in the classroom would provide our high school students with valuable life skills and opportunities for practical application of academic concepts.
Students could learn about nutrition, food safety, and meal planning, while also developing important skills such as following instructions, time management, and teamwork.
For students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs, cooking can be a sensory-rich activity that helps improve motor skills and encourages creativity. Additionally, having a kitchen in the classroom would create a more inclusive environment, where students of all abilities can learn and work together, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
