This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a first-year teacher coming into the classroom in the second semester. As you can imagine, as a first-year teacher I don’t have much of anything so the classroom is practically bare. I want to give them a respectable reading class so they can thrive in. They deserve a classroom where they can feel comfortable and productive.

We need posters and fabric to decorate the walls.

Developed classrooms provide a clean and well-structured room environment and promote focus as well as productiveness. Quotes and decorations can also promote motivation and encouragement which all students need for success. Books such as those in the Grade 8 Favorites pack are for their classroom library which helps foster literacy. The classroom library encourages students to read books of all genres and broadens their intellectual capabilities. Snacks are for prizes from engaging competitions such as spelling bees or read-offs. Competition such as these often gets the students more involved and elevates participation in the classroom. Thus, allowing them to be more intentional about their work and working with other students. The cart and bins are for organization! The carts will consist of places absent students can pick up their makeup work, supplies that the students are lacking, and extra credit projects.

They are resilient and smart kids who are going through a tough transition and are taking it like champs! Please allow me to provide a sustainable, mind-provoking, and warm classroom for my new students.
