I am a third grade teacher in my fifth year of teaching. I teach in a Title I school that is about 81% free and reduced lunch. I, along with my other team members, are always searching for exciting ways to encourage students to practice their reading and math skills. We are always coming up with wonderful hands-on activities that keep the students interested at all times. Our focus is not only on the objectives that need to be taught, but also on how to make it interesting so that the students will retain the information in the future. My classes have always loved the homemade Jeopardy game that we do several times a year to reinforce objectives learned. I use a board that I made from felt, with pockets and question values. Unfortunately, I made it for a class in one of my first Education classes in college, and it is now falling apart. I would love to give my students the same excitement of Jeopardy by using the classroom Jeopardy Game Show. With this, students will be able to be assessed on the information that we have learned in class without the boring pencil and paper assessments that we so often have to endure. The Classroom Jeopardy Game comes with game cartridges for all content areas, wireless remote controllers, electronic scoreboard and an MC unit. It also allows teachers to program their own questions and answers so that the students are getting questions based on the objectives taught in class. This game would not only benefit my classroom, but all of the third grade students. I am also involved with the afterschool program. These students could also use the Jeopardy Game as review for year long objectives during the program. The best part is that the students love this activity and don't even realize that they learning and reviewing anything!
