Mrs. Ray from Kansas City MO is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need three iPads for everyday classroom use to enrich student learning through projects, virtual field trips, and more!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Everyday in our classroom students are excited, engaged, and ready to share ideas. As the teacher, I can see the potential technology has to heighten student learning. A whole new world of learning could be introduced to my students with these iPads and they could share with others around the world.
My students are at-risk children from the urban core.
The school district is one of the lowest performing districts in the state, but our school is the highest performing within the district. Our students come to school to learn and iPads would make school a more desirable place for them.
The students will use the iPads to practice reading with comprehension, fluency, and sight words. Students will be able to differentiate their activities to what they individually need extra practice with. They will be used with math by practicing addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division facts in order to commit them to memory. Students can also learn in a fun way with games. They will be able to create class projects online and post them for other classes within our school or around the world to view and edit their work. They will also be able to share videos, blogs, and ideas.
My students come from difficult home situations and some of them find nothing they want at school.
These iPads will create excitement around learning and make my students WANT to come to school! This can be something simple that creates a desire to learn and promotes positive behaviors.
