My Students
My students enjoy technology, but many of them view technology as simply a way to be entertained. They have not yet learned to fully harness the creative and educational possibilities that can be found by using tools like the Apple iPad.
I teach fifth grade in a public school classroom.
Currently, there are 24 students in my class. It is a happy and active classroom full of children who enjoy learning and each other. They enjoy being creative and aspire to do their best in school. The children come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school qualifies as a moderate poverty school.
My Project
The Apple iPad is a tool that can motivate and inspire students to be creative and to learn to tell stories and document classroom thinking and activities using apps that allow movie making, photography, and writing projects and presentations. A classroom iPad would allow my students to explore these possibilities and to become more creative with the technology that they either have never had a chance to use or that they may have access to at home.
I would like my students to explore the creative uses of an iPad throughout various classroom lessons and projects.
It would give them hands-on experiences using the camera on the iPad and various apps to create photo stories, short movies, and presentations that can shared with the class and their families.
