Classroom Improvements

My Students

I teach at the same high school from which I graduated in 2000. I have taught here since 2006 and feel directly tied to the school.

Students are adjusting to the transition to in-person schooling.

Some of them are thrilled to see their friends again, and others are adjusting to, after over a year of no cameras and microphones, people seeing and hearing them again.

The result of all of these changes is a need for some things to get us back to where we were pre-COVID, combined with a desire for us to build upon the new challenges we face.

My Project

My school and class have a variety of low priority needs that will not be otherwise funded.

For example, we have class sets of books, but no cart.

We have a need to hang student work and classroom decorations, but our ladder went missing during construction.

On a personal note, COVID has directly changed my classroom environment. Social distancing means that I'm not circulating around the class as I previously did. An anti-fatigue mat will help with the foot and back pain I've been experiencing. Similarly, a desk guard will allow my students and I to communicate more easily, with no risk of COVID exposure.
