Classroom Helper: Mannequin Actor To Help Teach American History

My Project
For years, I have had a child mannequin as a classroom "helper" in my American history classes. I would dress up the mannequin in costumes that reflected the time period we were studying in American history. The child mannequin would also be used in skits and role-playing activities to help engage students with the historical event they were studying. One popular lesson I've done for years is a Civil War Field Hospital Re-Enactment. I dressed the child mannequin as a civil war soldier and then explained and conducted a series of medical procedures that would be done in a Civil War field hospital. This has always been a very engaging lesson for my students and it has helped them learn about the brutality of the American Civil War. I would like to now obtain an adult mannequin to use for more demonstrations, skits, and role-playing lessons within my American history classes.
Visual and other learners will become more engaged and excited, and create better connections to the written history they are studying with this classroom "helper" that will be used to teach a variety of historical events and eras.
Future specific lessons with obtaining an adult mannequin and historical costumes will include:
1) A skit/short play to help teach about the writing of the Mayflower Compact
2) A re-enactment of the events that lead to the Boston Massacre
3) To help visualize and understand the written journals from the Lewis & Clark expedition
4) An even more realistic re-enactment of a Civil War field hospital (use the adult mannequin instead of the child mannequin)
5) A role-playing activity about the "Roaring 1920's"
6) A visual representation as WWII soldiers tell their oral stories (audio/video recordings)
7) A visual representation of the influence of rap culture on America in the 1990's
