This list was put together in concert with my advisory class in order to create a space that they love and want to be in. Most of the things on this list are designed to:
- feed students- snacks are my number one most requested item
-create a space that feels pleasant and inspiring- plants (even fake ones) have been shown to benefits for mental health; add to that adjustable lighting and creative outlets and students will have a space that calms their nerves and sparks their creativity
- organize classroom tasks- a messy classroom is an agitation to everyone, keeping things organized is key
These students are working hard to take agency over their own education. Creating a classroom space that reflects their wants and needs is a huge step in making this classroom their own.
