My Project
Gamification in the classroom taps into our students' interests and various learning styles. Through games, they have the opportunity to reinforce academic skills while receiving much practice with their social skills.
Our students often have very limited social and communication skills and an even more limited set of interests; by learning through gameplay, our students will expand their interests and develop social and communication skills to build a stronger classroom community.
With Financial Literacy Memory, Dice of Fury, Scrabble, Boggle, Boggle Jr., and Upwards, they will practice math and literacy skills while engaging in turn-taking, following rules, and active listening. With the variety of What's Next?, It's in the Bag, and Guess in 10, students will have the opportunity to practice social and communication skills. For our group of diverse learners that have difficulties with academic, social, and communication skills, games are more important in school than we realize. Our students can see that learning CAN be all fun and games!
