This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a 6th-grade self-contained classroom in which each student has an IEP and struggles with some type of learning disability. My students are very tactile and also benefit from technological aids and assistance. They are very distractible, however when they are involved and focused on an activity or lesson plan they exhibit great enthusiasm.
My students all learn in very different ways and present a number of challenges socially and emotionally as well as academically.
I teach English Language Arts as well as Social Studies.
My Project
These materials will greatly aid my students in accomplishing every day tasks as well as long term classroom goals. Many of the students have attention related disorders and obstacles and allowing them options when it comes to seating can help them remain focused on a daily basis. This will be a great way to experiment with this form of seating before attempting to purchase more.
The wobble chair has been a great asset in other classrooms I have observed which is why I have chosen to use it in my own classroom.
Special education settings are supported through experimentation as well as application of new ideas.
