This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
First graders face the new challenge of learning to become more independent and responsible. It's so important for them to have enough activities to foster these new skills.
My students are eager learners.
Their desire to learn and explore is boundless. Our school is in a unique situation in that we do not qualify for much additional financial assistance. We work hard and have high API scores, so we don't get extra funds. We also do not receive additional aid because we do not have enough students on the free/reduced lunch program.
My Project
My students need the learning centers to help review skills in small groups and iPad accessories for an iPad that we share with another classroom. I hope that these new centers and activities can provide more opportunities for fostering independence and responsibility. Since class sizes have increased in the past two years, my students' educational needs has increased also. Having enough supplies for the larger class size will allow me to still work effectively in small groups as I rotate them through centers and my groups. These center activities also focus on key skills in reading, following directions, problem solving and science.
I hope that all donors will know that any donations to our classroom project will help so much and provide more opportunities for our class.
Regardless of the things that I can physically provide for my students, I want to be able to work in small groups with them and provide the individualized attention they all need. These new centers will allow for these small group sessions and independent work.
