Help me give my students quality headphones, individualized book bins to keep materials, wobble stools and cushions for flexible seating to help my little wigglers focus on their work, and privacy shields for students to use during assessments.
I have a lively bunch of 2nd graders, from the West Jordan, Utah area. We are a suburb of Salt Lake City. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, both economically (low and middle class) as well as ethnically. My students are learning what it means to be 2nd graders and come to school all day long. This group is very special, as they have never had a "normal" school year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They were in kindergarten when the world shut down, and a lot of them were online last year. If they were in person there were several restrictions in place that made the year interesting, to say the least.
This group of kids love school and love seeing their friends every day.
They get so excited to learn new things and share what we are doing in the classroom with their families.
My Project
These materials are essential to make a great learning environment for my students. My students need quality headphones to use with their Chromebooks during the day. We also take lots of assessments in class, the privacy shields will help the students have their own space to really focus and do their best work on their tests. I would also like to give my students a nice study book bin to hold their belongings so we are not sharing materials and can keep things easily separated in class. Finally, It can be hard for 7 and 8-year-olds to sit still during the day. Wobble stools and wobble cushions are great for my fidgety students to use while focusing on their school work.
Having these items in our classroom will greatly improve the overall environment and make school a place the students feel welcome and safe!
