This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I elementary school and the entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students wake themselves up in the morning, get themselves dressed and walk themselves to the bus stop. Many of them have never even touched an iPad before in their lives. I have taught first grade for eleven years now and the children get lower and lower each year. Please help them to succeed in the first grade. Your help is greatly appreciated.
My Project
My first graders love creating anchor charts for all the skills we learn per week. After they are complete, we hang them all around the room for them to use during centers and when they need to refer back to that specific skill. At the end of the school year, they chose the charts they would like to bring home over the summer and keep as their own. This gets them so excited knowing that these charts are going to be theirs. We are also in need of headphones. We use many tablets, computers and iPads during the school day. They are quite tough on the headphones and need replacements.
