My Students
My students come from all over the United States, although some have lived in this neighborhood their whole lives. Ninety-seven percent of students from our school receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many of them overcome obstacles just getting to school each day. Regardless of this, I continue to see growth, not just academically, but also socially, emotionally, and in their own family units.
As a fourth grade teacher, I really have a great chance to inspire and empower them to achieve their fullest potential, as well as set them on a path that will help them to succeed for the rest of their lives.
This is the year that they are tested on their ability to read without help and the year they begin more complex operations such as adding and subtracting fractions.
My Project
My goal is to give students some basics for out classroom that we struggle to get each year. This year, I am asking for classroom basics to keep the classroom clean and safe, as well as for some snacks. The snacks will be used before students come back, as teachers are able to have bags of materials for students. My hope was to put the snacks in the bag, so they have something to nibble during the day.
My students will be starting off learning remotely, but will go back into the classroom at some point, and I will be able to make care packages with the generous donation of snacks!
