Classroom Essentials to Start a Fabulous Year in Fourth Grade!

Help me give my students classroom essentials to help establish a PBIS reward system, snacks for learning, centers for math and ELA and a restock on favorite books!

My Project

I'm lucky enough to teach a fabulous group of 4th graders that are excited for their year ahead. I teach in a Title I school with a large concentration of refugee English Learner students from all over the world. I am inspired everyday by my students and their stories. I strive to create a safe and warm learning environment in my classroom where students know they are loved and will be given all the resources they need to be successful.

My classroom needs a restock on essentials to ensure a safe and productive year of learning ahead.

I am asking for prizes to use as PBIS rewards students can earn. Slime is a particularly favorite reward for this class. I am asking for snacks as well because many of my students come to school hungry and face food insecurities. When students are hungry, learning is not accessible to them because their basic needs are not being met. I am also requesting basic cleaning supplies like wipes and tissues to help prevent the spread of illness in my class of 29.

This year, I am embracing implementing math and literacy centers in my room. This is an opportunity for me to work in small groups with students, many of whom are multiple grade levels below where they should be, to reinforce skills. I am requesting a variety of games students can use in these centers to reinforce their skills. The games I currently have are from when I started teaching over a decade ago and many are broken or have pieces missing.

I am also requesting fresh copies of my students' favorite books, Dog Man and Cat Kid. The books I currently have from this series are old and their covers and pages are falling out.
