Classroom Essentials to Set Students Up for Success
Help me give my students a rug, organization station, pillows, pocket charts, sentence strips, and dry erase materials for a comfortable learning environment that supports their academic needs.
I teach curious scientists, creative writers, avid readers, clever mathematicians, and accurate historians. These learners come together from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to form our classroom community. Over half of the students in my class speak English as their second language.
As a first-year teacher, I endeavor to provide the best learning environment for my students.
They deserve to step into my classroom having basic materials in a safe and comfortable environment so that they can be successful to reach their learning goals.
My Project
Having a cheerful rug and soft pillows will invite students into the library space, creating opportunities for my students to foster their love for reading.
One of my focus areas for this school year is to support language growth and development, especially since most of my students are English Language Learners.
Having pocket charts, sentence strips, and dry erase materials will allow me to present key vocabulary words and sentence frames we discuss in math, science, social studies, and language arts. Because these words will be displayed around the room, students will constantly be exposed to them throughout the day. Furthermore, the plastic cart will allow me to keep materials organized so that the classroom can run smoothly. My hope is that creating an environment where language and learning are displayed, students will grow to appreciate the love of learning.
