My Students
I am a proud third grade teacher! I teach ELA (Reading and Writing) at a public school in the community of Englewood, on the South Side of Chicago. Our school currently serves 310 students grades K-8. 100% of the students live in the surrounding Englewood community.
My 3rd grade students are bright, curious, kind, critical thinkers, and persevering.
They are going to change the world.
I am committed to providing every single one of my students with the tools and skills they need to succeed in reading and writing, and to become college bound and ready.
My Project
A successful year in the classroom starts with having the materials to do so! Help me give my students the classroom materials they will need to learn and grow in the third grade next year. Third grade is such a pivotal year for students as they learn to analyze and closely read text, think critically, and have meaningful discussions with one another.
In order to make these learning experiences happen, we need materials like binders, highlighters, anchor chart paper, magnets, and more.
Students will use their binders during our Additional Language and Literacy time, where they will keep the texts we are reading in class plus additional readings, language dives, and kinetic learning materials like flashcards and task cards. Students will use highlighters to annotate and analyze complex texts in class. And we will use anchor chart paper to reinforce concepts we've learned in class by hanging up posters on our walls!
