This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I school with a diverse population of students. The large majority of my students come from low income families. Despite the many challenges my students face on a daily basis, they have a strong desire to learn, grow, and be the best they can be.
It is my greatest passion and calling to help students be kind and loving and to develop a love of learning and reading.
I also have a strong desire to create a welcoming environment which promotes cooperation, collaboration, critical thinking skills and an excited feeling of coming to school everyday.
Once you get kids excited about learning, you give them a lifelong gift. I teach skills that will last a lifetime like hard work and critical thinking.
My school encourages a growth mindset and strives to have a strong community where everyone feels welcomed. I want to support my students in their learning by providing a more comfortable and inviting classroom.
My Project
As the school year progresses towards spring, I would love to give my students the opportunity to see how butterflies and ants grow. Hands on science is highly engaging for students.
I would like to provide my students with additional building materials to promote critical thinking skills, collaboration and cooperation with each other.
As my students grow up in the 21st century, these skills will be essential for their successful futures.
My classroom would also benefit from books about math, science and kindness. I am lacking books in these particular areas and they would make great read alouds. My classroom library could use some great books.
