My Project

I am the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math teacher at our elementary school. A lot of our time in math is spent at the dry erase boards and up out of our seats so students can move around and collaborate freely with each other.

With my 5th grade homeroom/math class, we will be starting a Classroom Economy Project that will introduce the importance of jobs and how to budget their money earned from jobs.

During our Classroom Economy Project my students will learn the value of staying organized and how that leads to feeling successful and less stressed about their specific classroom jobs. In order to establish our classroom economy, my students need storage, bookshelves for organization as well as basic supplies like markers and sheet protectors.

My goal is to prepare students not only for junior high but also for life outside of school throughout this next school year. I have found that when students feel they have a purpose, they are more engaged in school, their attendance improves, and their moral increases.
