My students need ELA materials for literacy centers.
Each morning,I stand at our classroom door to greet my students with a smile,a pat on the back,and a warm welcome.I want my students to know that they are valued and loved in our classroom.I believe that a positive classroom environment enables students to feel safe and helps them love learning.
As I think of words that I can use to describe my students, the words resilient, determined, and highly motivated are just a few that provide a vivid glimpse of what they are like.
I teach a wonderful group of 3rd graders at South Lincoln Elementary School. Unfortunately, our school and classroom were devastated by an EF3 tornado on Monday, April 28th. Since our classroom was deemed a total loss, my students lost several personal items, as well as, all learning tools, resources, and equipment that was used to provide them with independent and collaborative learning opportunities.With all the devastation, as well as, all that was lost in our school and community, fortunately, ALL of our students were safe. With the quick action of our amazing administrators,a plan was put in place to unite the South Lincoln Eagles with the Flintville Bobcats. With their support, my 3rd graders were able to come together to see that their friends were all safe and also to unite again as the SL EAGLES.
My Project
I am a true believer in providing my students with opportunities to engage and work collaboratively with others. By offering my students opportunities to work with their peers, they not only are engaging in learning experiences, but they also develop critical skills needed to be able to work with and alongside others. They learn to appreciate and value the perspectives of others, as well as, promote and enhance their communication skills. The tools and resources that I have chosen for this project will be used to provide my students with these opportunities. Through the use of the various games and skills practice activities, my students will develop and refine their math and literacy skills while having fun learning. My students will also benefit greatly from the use and flexibility that the MimioPad will provide for them. Students can use the MimioPad to quickly demonstrate visually the various strategies and thought processes used to solve problems and justify their answers.
This project will provide my classroom with resources that will immediately impact my students' lives and their learning.After the overwhelming experience of losing a classroom and being displaced for the remainder of our school year,my desire for my students is for them to enter their classroom each day with enthusiasm and excitement.As they look around the
classroom and at all of the donated resources and activities,I want them to understand how much they,as well as their education,are valued.
