Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 5th grade inclusion meaning that I teach both students with and without disabilities. I am a believer of inclusive education and strive to find ways to insure that all students are engaged, focused, and learning. My students participate in inclusive small group activities daily.
I admire their ability to accept each other for their strengths and abilities.
My students thrive because of each other! The support they provide each other is admirable and I strive to be more like them!
My Project
Today's classrooms are so focused on improving student achievement on standardized test scores that we forget the importance of social and emotional learning. Sadly, social-emotional learning is not a main focus in our schools.
It is my goal to implement social emotional learning to inspire my students to build positive relationships, strengthen their ability to self-regulate, and promote academic growth.
To achieve this goal, I must create a positive and encouraging classroom environment. The inspirational posters, decorations, and the text, 20 Ways To Implement Social Emotional Learning In Your Classroom, will help me promote and implement social-emotional learning in my 5th grade classroom.
