Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM) takes place every October and is a time to raise awareness, inspire action, and center the voices of young people impacted by the justice system. This year, our student art project will focus on the theme Still Becoming. The theme invites students to reflect on who they've been, who they are now, and who they are still becoming-both as individuals and as members of their communities. Students will create visual art that explores this theme and expresses their own journeys, ideas, and identities.
The finished pieces will be displayed as part of a national initiative coordinated by BreakFree Education, allowing the students' work to be viewed by educators, advocates, and community members across the country.
The goal is to lift up student voices and provide opportunities for meaningful feedback and recognition. Through this project, students will not only engage in creative self-expression but also connect with a broader audience around issues of justice, growth, and identity.
