This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious about the world around them! They are passionate and full of energy! They ask great questions and love learning and growing, one way they love to learn and grow is by reading together as a whole classroom community.

One of our favorite parts of the day is when we sit down to read together.

My students are motivated because they know education is the key to success. My students are from undeserved and under resourced communities. Many of my students are recent immigrants. Our school provides students a safe and supportive environment in which to learn and grow.

My Project

After a busy morning we will come to the rug each to enjoy Read Aloud, each with our individual copies. I will read aloud as the children follow along in their personal copy. When reading together we will make predictions and inferences about the plot and characters. We will discuss character traits. We will look for and discuss the authors message, as well as the authors craft. We will enjoy the pleasure of reading together.

When each student has a copy of the read aloud book students are able to access material above their independent reading level.

When reading a chapter book as a whole class we are creating a shared experience. Students feel and sense of pride and joy when they complete a difficult chapter book.
