Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has recently begun composting our food from our lunches. Students are now asked to separate their food waste, recycling, and trash daily during lunch times. This has been a wonderful change for the planet, but it has been tricky for students to remember and understand the importance of this separation.

These toys, materials, and books will support composting conversations inside our classroom, allowing my students to better understand both why and how we compost, to spark some composting joy!

We will use the blocks and recycling truck toy to create our own composting community, just like in the book! The compost pail will be our own classroom pail to use for snacks and breakfast composting. I am looking forward to creating composting excitement for years to come!
