Help me give my students vinyl to create a classroom community through matching shirts.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hurst's classroom raised $306
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are in a low-income area. Their parents work a lot in order to support them. It is difficult for parents to take time off to be in the school volunteering. These students face struggles such as lack of food and basic necessities, yet they are so resilient. I grew up in this community and faced many of the same challenges that my students face every day. I chose to teach here with the hopes of inspiring at least one child. The students at our school have so much potential!
Each year, my students love to help each other succeed, and they assist me in creating a classroom that cares!
I am in awe of the things they do to help each other daily.
The students at this school are becoming very excellent at technology, and they are always teaching me new things. Our school now has 1:1 technology, and the students are loving it. They are taking ownership of their learning through their data books and are reaching new heights all the time.
My Project
I love creating a community that feels more like a family in my classroom. I have always wanted to create t-shirts for my students that are unable to afford school pride shirts. By having the vinyl for the Cricut Explore Air 2 I can easily cut vinyl and create fun shirts for my class.
I feel that wearing matching shirts while on field trips or when performing for parents will help the students feel more confident.
The matching shirts will allow the students to feel as though they all belong to something really important. I am excited to allow them to create a design together. This will help create teamwork and negotiating skills.
I still have a shirt from my elementary choir. I hope that these shirts will also help the students remember fun times that we had as a class the same way that I remember things from my days in the choir.
More than half of students from low‑income households
