FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Lau's classroom raised $180
This project is fully funded
My Project
Our project is to create a lab environment for students to relax, build community, and learn to care for our lab space. Students benefit from having a cooperative opportunity to get together and work as a team to complete projects. This includes working as a team in small-stakes competition, such as structured video games, completing an irrigation project, and keeping their lab environment clean. In particular, Super Smash Brothers video game allows designation of different team combinations and skill sets, the Screw Driver set will be used for them to assemble an indoor irrigation project, and the Microfiber towels will be used for keeping our lab clean.
Investing in dedicated community spaces within classrooms is a valuable expenditure that directly contributes to a more positive, engaging, and effective learning environment.
These spaces, whether a cozy reading nook, a collaborative work zone, or a designated area for group discussions, foster a sense of belonging and psychological safety among students, which are crucial for academic risk-taking and active participation.
By providing a physical manifestation of community, schools encourage the development of essential social-emotional skills such as communication, collaboration, empathy, and conflict resolution. Furthermore, a well-designed community space can enhance student motivation and engagement, leading to improved academic outcomes and a more inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and connected. Ultimately, spending on these areas is an investment in the holistic development of students, equipping them with not only academic knowledge but also the interpersonal skills necessary for success in school and beyond.
