Many of us have walked inside a lobby or restaurant and noticed that the area isn't so inviting. An inviting classroom will help students feel safe and welcome to learn. I long for my students to feel as if the classroom is their home.
Many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes, and will attend several different elementary schools.
Even with major obstacles and instabilities in their way our students are eager learners, and are excited about their future.
My Project
The large rug will go at the front of the classroom in order to promote collaboration. This will improve whole group instruction in social studies. This large rug will also be helpful for the students who would rather work on the floor.
The wobble stools will be used to promote flexible seating.
These seats will help the students that struggle with sitting still throughout the day.
Both of these seating pieces will be helpful to my students during whole group and small group instruction. In my classroom, my students are able to choose their seating.
The students will be able to use these seating areas to feel more comfortable and welcome in the classroom. Having the ability to choose their seating, increases learning.
