This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are brand new to the school and classroom setting because of the pandemic. For many of them, this is their first year fully in a classroom. In addition, nearly all of my students live in low income households, many of which lack stability. I want to be able to provide my students with a safe, unified, and inspiring space for them to learn and grow.
My Project
I am asking for help funding a classroom carpet for my first grade classroom. A class carpet is essential for students of this age, and unfortunately my school has run short of carpets and my classroom does not have one.
Most of our class meetings as well as various lessons are held in the center of our floor, as young students really cannot sit in their chairs for too long of a period.
Having a classroom carpet in the center of our floor will help us have a central meeting spot for our classroom meetings and lessons and will help with classroom management as students will now have an actual place to sit rather than the concrete floor.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
