This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are curious and over active learners who are on an imagination voyage. They love coming to art because they get to branch out from their normal day and learn through play. Whether we are painting landscapes or making a collage with paper, we are learning in a fun and interactive way.
My students are my favorite part of the day!
They have some of the best ideas and are a pleasure to work with. Most of my students come from very low income families, and do not have some of the things that other children take for granted. As their teacher, I try to give them everything I can. I expose them to new ideas, interesting materials, and interactive discussions.
My Project
Our students will use this carpet as an introduction to flexible seating, and also as a place to gather for directions. My room is very large, which is both a blessing and a curse. Our room being large is so beneficial to give us all room to work. However, it also means students are spread out among many tables and can not always hear or see directions.
A classroom carpet will help divide our room between working spaces and learning space.
It will also give students a place to spread out and lay down to work if they find that most conducive to learning. I would like to give all of my students freedom to select flexible seating, and this will help us figure out if it is right for us.
More than half of students from low‑income households
