Classroom Care Station: Fostering Confidence and Inclusion

Help me give my students a community care station equipped with personal hygiene items to ensure students feel seen, heard, and cared for.

My Project

When I was in 2nd grade, I often felt embarrassed for forgetting to brush my hair or teeth, which left me so ashamed that I couldn't concentrate on my learning. Now, as a 3rd grade teacher, my goal is to ensure my students feel seen, heard, and cared for, so they can focus on learning without any roadblocks. A community care station will allow students to discreetly "take what they need" from a range of essential personal hygiene items. For example, students will have access to hair care products, deodorant, toothbrush kits, band-aids, chap-stick, lotion, tissue, pencils, and cleaning wipes.

By offering these resources, I aim to prevent bullying related to hygiene issues and promote a positive, supportive learning environment.

In previous school years, I have witnessed students being bullied due to issues like hair, breath, and dry skin. I am particularly excited about including skin-tone bandages, which will ensure that all students feel represented and supported.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and each one brings unique strengths to our classroom community. This station will empower students to maintain their self-confidence, fostering a sense of inclusivity and care. Thank you for helping students feel confident, respected, and ready to learn every day.
