Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each of my preschool students is so very unique and creative, with different learning styles and varying degrees of moderate to severe special needs. All are learning to identify complex emotions and then learn strategies to help them regulate these emotions. Many of my students have significant expressive language deficits which makes identifying and then appropriately expressing their emotions quite challenging.
Currently, there isn't a special place in my classroom for a student to go when they are angry, overwhelmed, stressed and/or anxious.
A calming area in our classroom would provide a safe space with necessary furniture and supplies to teach regulation skills and foster growth of emotional development.
