My Students

I currently teach 7th and 8th-grade science in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we need your help. Think small-town America; our community has a large Native American population and many of my students do not have the money to purchase the necessary school supplies to have a successful year.

My Project

In my science class, we are always doing laboratory experiments to learn the content. The students need to calculate force, density, acceleration, and more using a calculator. Right now my students are using their class Chromebooks to do their calculations. They work for the calculations but are not ideal. The login process to get into the computer slows students down on their work and access to the internet can be a distraction.

The calculators in this project would allow the students to make their calculations and focus on the science content they are learning.

Laboratories are a frequent occurrence in our classroom. My students have already shown an astonishing interest in hands-on learning and this can be one more tool to foster that engagement.
