I am one lucky lady to have such a wonderful job as a teacher. I love my job and am happy to go to school each and every day. My students become MY kids. I have a wide range of students each year, including English language learners and special needs students.
My students are special to me in many ways.
They are the ones that make me want to work hard and get them to love to learn and become lifelong learners. My students make me laugh and love everything about teaching.
My Project
I am so excited to see my first graders begin to really read independently! I love watching them get lost in the stories and hear about the different adventures their book characters are having.
We need more books!
I would like to challenge my high reading kids and give them research projects. The Magic Tree House Fact Finders are great non-fiction texts. Many kids struggle with informational text, so I would like to introduce informational text to them in a familiar way. They will work together in small groups to read and research the topic. Once they have completed the reading and research, they will create a poster and will be asked to show and share what they learned. The kids will have an opportunity to go around the school, to different grade levels, and share what they have learned through their research projects.
I also have a group of kids that are just beginning to read books that are a bit more in-depth, beginning chapter books. Nate the Great and Henry and Mudge are super and fun beginning chapter books. They are funny and exciting and the kids always get lost in their silly adventures.
