My Students

My students are constantly growing and learning in our school. Our school is also a personalized learning school. The idea of personalized learning is that ultimately each kid moves forward at their own pace and in their own style. My students are always eager to learn!

My students are 4th and 5th graders at a low-income school, with students receiving free or reduced-price lunches.

With the high poverty rate at my school, it can be difficult for students to get the opportunities that they deserve. There are 35 students in my classroom, and I want to make sure that each one gets to experience a creative learning environment.

My Project

I am looking to build my classroom library full of books that my students want to read. When the students are excited about the books, they get more engaged in reading. In this project, I added complete book sets of books that are in high demand. Some of the books include the Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dog Man, Dork Diaries, diverse characters, mystery books, and a bunch of high interest books for 4th and 5th graders. My kids are so excited to check out books and read them. I know the titles on this project will fly off the shelves.

I hope that by flooding my library with many new books, my students will get excited to read them all!

Teaching reading becomes far more effective when you have the materials to allow students to work and read independently during your literacy block. These books will allow me to teach in small groups that are differentiated by ability. Learners then are able to receive meaningful instruction at their level. This makes school more enjoyable and productive for all our learners.
