Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of my favorite sayings is, "The one who does the work, does the learning!" I would like to create classroom book clubs, allowing students to work in collaborative teams to read, create and share with their classmates.

My students are gifted third and fourth graders who come from five different schools.

Many of them are also English Language Learners and need to improve their reading skills in English. I believe they can best do this by creating classroom book clubs for reading and discussion.

My Project

By creating these collaborative teams of both native and non-native English readers, these students will be able to develop their English skills both by reading and working with their team to create projects - skits, murals, puppet shows, book trailers, etc. - to demonstrate their learning.

We are asking for class sets of books to allow each team a variety of topics and reading levels to choose from.
