Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! I have never seen a class with so much sparkle and drive as them despite the hardships that a majority of them face. My school is a Title 1 school in Northern California where around 85% of students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. In addition to that the school works to help them with clothing from local organizations, food from a food pantry, and fundraising for 5th grade science camp. My students know their hard work will pay off!
My Project
I am starting to plan for the 2018-2019 school year, and know most of my students struggle with basic classroom supplies. Even when a supply list is given most families are not able to bring in all of the items needed for their student’s learning.
I am hoping by getting some of the basics now, I can save the rest of my classroom budget for doing more steam, art, and interactive and engaging lessons with my students.
This past year it was a great effort to balance the budget for things that we need in the classroom and things that we want to help students succeed.
Items will go to the following places:
--Individual Student Needs: Markers, pencils, lined paper, glue sticks, construction paper, and erasers
--Whole Class Needs: hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes, and white board markers
