This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My fourth grade students are a hard working enthusiastic group, who love to read, write, and learn new things daily. This year I have a wonderful learning community where all my students genuinely care for one another. Every day, they come to school ready to contribute to their learning experiences. Many of our students are not fortunate enough to come to school with the daily supplies they need to get through the day, such as pencils and books. 100% of the students at my school receive free breakfast and reduced lunch.
Even though the students face numerous hardships at home, they are still smiling and ready to learn when they get to school each day.
Their reactions to learning amaze me and their smiles encourage me to make my classroom a loving safe place to learn.
My Project
All of the classroom basic supplies I am asking for can help big time in my classroom. I do so much of my teaching using anchor charts and bright colors to grab my student's attention. Students use the anchor charts to look back on when they are working alone or in small groups. They utilize them to help with their daily learning.
My students also do a lot of writing and sharing their ideas on paper.
Not having enough sharpened pencils is always a problem in my classroom. I want to always have enough pencils for everyone. Students also print out their work or use brightly colored paper to play games with.
Even though these materials are quite basic in some districts, they are hard to come by in mine. I want my students to have everything they need, so they can focus on learning.
