it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My name is Ms. M., and I am a second year teacher in Baltimore City. My 5th grade classroom, which is in a small school located in Southwest Baltimore, thrives on student happiness and success. Each and every student who walks through our door brings his or her own set of inspirations and life experiences, and they inspire me every day to be the best I can be. About 86.3% of our students are the free or reduced price meal plan, and 25.2% are English Language Learners.
I wholeheartedly believe that every single one of my students has what it takes to be successful, and I am willing to try whatever it takes to get them where they need and WANT to be.
I love seeing our students, throughout the whole school, walk in with smiles on their faces, and I will try anything I can think of to ensure those smiles remain there. After all, school is all about learning and growing together.
My Project
The materials that I am hoping to obtain for my classroom are all essential to the classroom culture I love about my room. Throughout our class period my students have many opportunities for movement and personal choice. However, we did not always have the materials to make the transitions quick and simple; these materials will help us make these quick and smooth transitions a reality. Having clipboards for each student will allow them to simply pick up and go as needed or when the time allows.
I have found my students often work best during the times they are able to choose their learning space.
I hope to be able to provide simple tools that allow students to choose their space as well as tools that allow them to take notes and create interactive journals in order to demonstrate their personal bests.
