Hardworking. Dedicated. Adaptable. Ambitious. Eager. Resourceful. Responsible. Persistent. Diligent. Adventurous. Collaborative. Creative. These are all words that I would use to describe my students.
I teach 200 of the most captivating, diverse students you can possibly imagine, students of all levels, from special needs to gifted and talented, with a myriad of ethnic and financial backgrounds.
These young people spark a Marie Kondo level of joy in my life that I just cannot explain with simple words. These students have been through a lot over the last several years: Hurricane Harvey, Tropical Storm Imelda, COVID, and a harsh winter storm last year that many are still recovering from. It has been awhile since they have had a "normal" school year, and I want nothing more than to bring them the most captivating Social Studies lessons that I can and to give them their best school year yet.
My Project
Living in the Houston area has been a difficult experience for many of our students over the last several years. Many of our students homes have flooded multiple times via hurricanes and busted pipes from winter storms. On top of that, they have been dealing with navigating their world through a pandemic. This year will be the first time in two years that many of our students have gone to school in person.
By providing basic classroom supplies for our Social Studies classroom, we can help make transition back to the classroom a little bit easier for the students.
I am asking for multicultural colored pencils and markers to help create beautiful projects and artwork that will help represent the true colors of the world for my World Cultures and Texas History classes. I am also asking for mounting tape and sheet protectors to help hang student projects throughout the classroom and hallways. Lastly, I am asking for other basic supplies such as pencils, pens, dividers, and sharpies for every day use in the classroom.
