Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year in 5th grade, we want to build a joyful learning community where students are able to collaborate, share their thinking, and build work habits that will set them up for success in middle school. My students are curious and intelligent and have many needs that I hope to meet in the classroom, so each of them has a successful last year of elementary school.
This project includes tools to support students during their self-directed learning time and tools to support our class community in sharing their work and ideas.
During the school day, students work through lessons together and also have time to work independently and small groups. Materials like pocket charts will help to keep students organized as they choose their independent work and keep track of books they are reading. Materials like a document camera will help students share their work and ideas during lessons. Floor cushions will allow them to sit more comfortably throughout the day.
