Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a third grade teacher at a Title I-funded school here in Utah. I always make sure to supply my students with materials they will need at school, because many of my students come from low income households, so it is difficult for them to buy their own supplies.
My project is seeking classroom basic materials, such as pencil pouches, colored pencils, highlighters, pencil erasers, and folders for reading and math.
The pencil pouches will be used to store students colored pencils, regular pencils, erasers, log-in information, Expo markers, and etc. They will be used throughout the school day. It makes it easy for students to keep their materials organized. The colored pencils will be used for free drawing, or other lessons that require students to identify parts of a word or math problem. The highlighters will be used for students to highlight information and evidence in a text. Students will also use them to identify phonics patterns we are learning in class. The erasers will help students with erasing errors they have made with assignments. The folders will be used for students to keep their reading and math materials organized and easy to find. They will also contain scaffolded sheets for students to use for classroom discussions, such as sentence frames.
All of the materials listed will be used frequently throughout the school year! The students and myself would be so appreciative if you could support us with this project! Thank you!
