This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are BEYOND hardworking and dedicated. They care so much about their education and are working hard in order to become successful in life.

This group of kids is absolutely obsessed with reading.

They love checking out new books and just devouring them. This is a first for me, as a teacher - I have never had a more passionate group of kids.

My kiddos truly take nothing for granted. They are appreciative of everything they receive and they show it every day when they walk into my classroom bright eyed and ready to learn and leave, eager to come back.

My Project

My honors classes are always seeking ways to improve and prepare themselves for AP and college English. One of the hardships that we run into is that we do not have enough exposure to the classics. Upon entering college, students are expected to have read certain books, but they do not always have the opportunity to read them in class.

Many of my students are looking to pursue degrees in medicine, engineering, and literature.

I want them to read books that help prepare them for the high level of academia that they are aspiring to reach. Not only are these books classics, they help the students think critically, which helps them gain success in all other subjects.

I would love for my students to have the ability to group read or individually read some of these well-known (and loved) pieces of literature.
