My Students

My scholars consist of a wide range of personalities that all have one thing in common, the eagerness to grow as scholars. With your support of my project, I will be able to provide my scholars with resources for success.

I want to set my 5th graders on a path for college readiness.

My scholars are growing up in a low-income area that does not predict their educational trajectory. They work hard to get smart, have fun, and be college-ready. I have a class of twenty-five, brilliant scholars! They are researchers, mathematicians, scientists, authors, historians, etc. My students are the future of Dallas and future members of our society. Every day, they come into my classroom excited to learn and ready to take on the challenges I have set up for them. These youngsters deserve the absolute best education they can get, and they deserve to be supported in every way possible in the most important year of their educational career.

My Project

This year, we have challenged our students to pick up books and read. It is vitally important now, more than ever, as we are seeing reading levels far behind what they should be for their grade level. As a way to encourage our students, we would like to provide prizes in the form of family games, that they can earn by reaching different word count levels.

Children spend so much time on their devices, however, we want them spending just as much time in books and playing fun games with their families.

These games will give opportunities to invest in their reading and celebrate with their families!
