My Project
I love stories. They're magical things, and watching students discover them is a wondrous thing. We've gotten used to uploading PDFs to Google Classroom, but holding a book in your hands is a special thing as you read. That's what I want to give my students. I'm asking for class sets of the books we read together throughout the school year.
My students deserve books.
I teach at a small arts school in Downtown Los Angeles. Almost all my students come from low-income houses and are not used to having nice things. I'd love to be able to hand them books as we read. For each book we read as a class, I would love to have class sets of each book for the students to read so they can have a break from looking at screens. There's nothing like feeling a good book in your hands, and I want my students to have that. This project is specifically for a class set of Harper Lee's novel "To Kill a Mockingbird".
