This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second graders are eager readers who love diving into stories that make them think, laugh, and relate to characters in meaningful ways. To foster their love of reading and build important literacy skills, I want to provide each student with a copy of *The Year of Billy Miller* for whole-group reading, character and plot studies, and discussions on themes and morals.

This wonderful book follows Billy Miller as he navigates the ups and downs of second grade, a story my students can see themselves in!

With these books, we will analyze characters, explore how stories are structured, and reflect on the valuable lessons Billy learns along the way.

Having a class set of "The Year of Billy Miller" will allow every student to follow along, engage deeply with the text, and participate in discussions that enhance comprehension and critical thinking. Your support will help bring this story to life in our classroom and create a shared reading experience that builds confidence and excitement for books!
