This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I believe that exposing my students to another culture not only shows them how others do things but it also sparks that inner thinking piece where they begin to think explore and ask questions all on their own, about the wonders around them.

For this project, students will be given novels entirely in the TL language and be asked to analyze, interpret and become an expert for this text.

Students not only will be exposed to the Spanish language but also the culture and last but definitely not least, reading strategies to help them tackle a rigorous text such as this. In addition to the educational piece, I hope to have my students grow their confidence in learning the language, in learning itself.

The hope is that my students will benefit and embrace this so that they may further their learning in a second language. It is for this reason that I am also asking for a TPT gift card to purchase activities to reinforce what is happening in the storyline. There are many studies that show students who know more than one language can have a better chance at being successful and that is what I hope to give my students.
