My Students

The students in my fifth grade classroom come from a variety of backgrounds. They are creative, thoughtful, and have a passion for learning! They are voracious readers and master mathematicians. They enjoy hands-on, collaborative projects that challenge them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school ready to try new things and are allowed to take responsible chances in order to grow both personally and academically. We embrace our mistakes, we celebrate our successes, and we value each other.

When my time with my students is over, it is my hope that they remember me as a dedicated, compassionate, and genuine teacher who always brought out the best in them.

Someone who was always there to help them with issues both in and out of the classroom. It is my goal as a teacher to provide my students with a quality education while fostering an environment that is safe, structured, and conducive to the learning process. I want my students to have “fun” while learning. I want them to understand that education is enjoyable and can change their lives if they are willing to embrace it.

My Project

As my school district is moving closer to 1-1 as technology is no longer an added bonus to occasional lessons. Now, it is the norm. The students in my classroom use their Chromebooks every day for educational games, research, projects, assignments, and so much more. When a student cannot "plug in" to hear the sounds on a science video or listen to an expert talk about an historical event, learning is stifled.

Allowing each student to have a pair of headphones would allow me to incorporate more learning opportunities for each student.

If each student has a set of headphones that they can use with their Chromebook, it would allow me to set up numerous lessons and learning centers to meet each of their learning needs.
